Scandal in France: PSG president Al-Khelaifi becomes subject of investigation

PSG and beIN Sports media group president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has become the subject of a preliminary investigation in France. The Paris Prosecutor's Office has launched an inquiry into the official on suspicion of a conflict of interest, L'Équipe reports.

The investigation concerns a meeting between Al-Khelaifi and representatives of France's Professional Football League (LFP) in July 2024, which was linked to television rights for broadcasting matches. According to prosecutors, the inquiry involves the possible misappropriation of personal funds.

The proceedings began following a complaint filed by the anti-corruption association Anticor. In April, the case was referred to the Financial Anti-Corruption Brigade (BFAC), which is investigating the circumstances of the matter.

The Paris Prosecutor's Office confirmed the information published by L'Équipe. However, Al-Khelaifi's side denies the allegations. The PSG president's lawyer told AFP that his client had “always acted independently, impartially and objectively.”

As a result, one of the most influential figures in French football has found himself at the center of legal proceedings. At this stage, this is only a preliminary investigation, and the allegations against Al-Khelaifi have not been established as facts.
