The Georgian national team scored their first goal in the history of the European Championships
On Tuesday, June 18th, the Georgian national team played their first match of the group stage in the 2024 European Championship against Turkey.
Turkey opened the scoring first with a goal in the 25th minute. A few minutes later, Turkey had another goal disallowed for offside, which could have made it 2-0. The Georgian national team responded with a goal of their own. In the 32nd minute, George Mikaoutadze equalized the match with an assist from Kochorashvili.
This goal marked a historic moment for the Georgian national team as it was their first ever goal in the history of the European Championships.
In the match between the Netherlands and Poland, a record was also set. The goal scored by the Dutch, executed by Weghorst, came just 2 minutes and 18 seconds after the striker entered the field.
