Following the official announcement that Morocco would co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, renowned African football icon Samuel Eto'o, who currently serves as the head of the Cameroon Football Federation, offered his warmest wishes to Morocco.
In a talk with RFI, Eto'o praised King Mohammed VI for his leadership and hard work in bringing the important tournament to Africa. This marks Africa's return to hosting the World Cup 20 years after South Africa held the event in 2010. Eto'o also commended Fouzi Lekjaa, the head of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, for his clear vision and dedication in making this happen.
Eto'o is certain that the World Cup between Morocco–Portugal–Spain will be a great triumph. In his opinion, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be "the best AFCON ever." He likened it to that event.
