Salah named in the starting lineup against Marseille and rewrites Liverpool history
Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah returns to the Liverpool lineup after the Africa Cup of Nations and immediately starts in a Champions League match, setting a new record in the process.
Details: According to Opta, this is Mohamed Salah’s 88th appearance for Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, drawing him level with Ian Callaghan in this category. Only two players are ahead of him: Jamie Carragher with 130 matches and Steven Gerrard with 111 appearances.
Notably, the Atlético goalkeeper recently became the fifth player in UEFA Champions League history to play more than 100 matches in the competition under the guidance of a single head coach.
Reminder: Arsenal travelled away to Inter for their Matchday 7 UEFA Champions League clash and claimed a 3–1 victory, setting a unique club record in the process.
