The situation arose after Arsenal pushed to play the match on Tuesday, but that would have forced Palace to play three matches in five days—a punishing stretch that would severely impact the squad’s physical condition. Following Sunday’s showdown against Manchester City, Palace would have had to face Arsenal on Tuesday and then KuPS in the Conference League on Thursday.
Recognizing the packed schedule and the physical toll on players, the EFL has decided to reschedule the Arsenal vs Palace quarter-final for December 23.
