The EFL stood firm and did not make concessions to Guardiola.

Details: According to The Athletic, EFL officials have no plans to alter the Carabao Cup tournament regulations following Manchester City's request.

Earlier, City boss Pep Guardiola criticized the tournament rules because Marc Guéhi, who joined from Crystal Palace in January, is ineligible to play in the cup, having already represented Palace in the competition. Guardiola deemed this rule unfair, emphasizing that the club paid a significant transfer fee for Guéhi but cannot field him.

After the semifinal clash against Newcastle, Manchester City formally asked the EFL to overturn the regulation and allow Guéhi to feature in the final against Arsenal, but today the request was denied. As a result, Marc Guéhi will definitely not be able to help his team in the Carabao Cup final.

The Carabao Cup final between London’s Arsenal and Manchester City will take place on March 22 at Wembley Stadium.
