In the second leg of the EFL Cup, Newcastle travelled away to Manchester City and suffered a 1–3 defeat, in the process setting an unwanted club record.
Details: According to Opta, the Magpies have now lost 12 consecutive matches at the Etihad across all competitions. This is the longest losing streak against a single opponent in the club’s history.
Newcastle were beaten 1–5 on aggregate and failed to reach the EFL Cup final. Following the two semi-finals and their return legs, the names of both finalists in the EFL Cup have been confirmed. Arsenal and Manchester City will battle it out for the trophy.
