Rulani Mokwena: The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is enjoying a good spell for MC Alger being on top of the table and also through to the last 16
Rulani Mokwena’s fairy-tale season in Algeria seems to be continuing unabated.
The South African-born coach saw his side MC Alger reach the Coupe d’Algerie last 16 following their 2-1 win over USM Khenchela.
Mokwena’s ALgers are on top of the Algeria’s Ligue 1 and now a cup victory which sends them to the last 16, surely this is music to the ears of the former Mamelodi Sundowns gaffer.
Last Monday, Mokwena defeated CR Belouizdad by the same score-line in a league game and he was quick to acknowledge that glory of that victory belongs to the players.
Belouizdad are under Sead Ramovic who have a history of poor relations with Mokwena while still coaching in South Africa.
This took place when Ramovic was at TS Galaxy and Mokwena at Sundowns.
Against Khenchela Amine Messoussa and Soufiane Bayazid scored the goals for MC Alger while Hamid Djaouchi netted for their opponents.
