Details: On October 28, The Touchline reported that Ronaldo's 2008 Ballon d'Or had won the B.O.A.T. vote. The competition, organised as part of the award's 70th anniversary celebrations, invited supporters to choose the greatest individual Ballon d'Or-winning season. The official organisers had previously confirmed Ronaldo's commanding lead, although their website had not yet published the final result at the time of verification.

Ronaldo's 2008 campaign remains one of the most memorable in football history. Playing for Manchester United, he scored 42 goals across all competitions and helped Sir Alex Ferguson's team win the Premier League and Champions League. The Portuguese forward also claimed the European Golden Shoe before receiving his first Ballon d'Or at just 23.

The organisers' October 20 update showed Ronaldo's 2008 season leading with 75% of the votes. Messi's remarkable 2012 campaign followed with 9%, while Ronaldo's 2017 triumph occupied third place with 6%. Each winning year was treated as a separate entry, allowing the same player to appear multiple times.

Importantly, B.O.A.T. is a paid fan poll rather than an official football trophy. Each vote cost €1, and supporters could vote repeatedly. The result therefore reflects participation in this particular poll, not an official judgement about the greatest player ever. Ronaldo remains a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, while Messi holds the record with eight.
