A major tragedy for PAOK.
Details: According to DailyRomania, today in Romania, a group of Greek PAOK supporters was involved in a fatal traffic accident on a highway while traveling to their team's away match in France against Lyon.
Reports indicate that the vehicle carrying the fans veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a large truck. As a result of the crash, seven people lost their lives, while three others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
PAOK president Ivan Savvidis issued a statement to the families of the victims, expressing his condolences and assuring them that the club will stand by them in this difficult time:
“Today we have suffered an indescribable tragedy. I am shocked by such an unfair loss of young people, fans of our beloved team, who were traveling to support our PAOK. I mourn together with their families and millions of our compatriots. May God rest their souls. These young people, children of PAOK, are our children, members of one big family. We do everything for our family and never leave anyone alone. My thoughts are with their loved ones. I pray for the recovery of those injured, who are now fighting for their lives.” – Ivan Savvidis
At this moment, the date and time of the Lyon vs PAOK match remain unchanged, but it is expected that a minute of silence will be held before kickoff to honor the memory of the victims.
