A major tragedy has claimed the lives of innocent people.
Details: Today it was reported that during an armed attack on Jews celebrating Hanukkah in Sydney, 27-year-old French footballer Dan Elkayam was killed.
Elkayam previously played for Rockdale Ilinden, a club competing in the National Premier Leagues of New South Wales. He was set to join Arncliffe Aurora in 2026, but fate had other plans.
Rockdale Ilinden has already expressed its condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, stating that this is an unbearable pain and tragedy:
"With deep shock and sorrow, we learned that our Premier League 1 player, Dan Elkayam, became a victim of the horrific, tragic, and senseless events at Bondi Beach on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
Dan was an integral part of our PL1 squad in 2025—an extremely talented and popular player among his teammates. We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to Dan’s family, friends, and everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace—his memory will be eternal," the club said in a statement on Facebook.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, also reacted to this tragic news, offering his condolences to Elkayam’s family and loved ones.
