Riots erupt ahead of Champions League final as PSG and Arsenal fans clash in Budapest
Serious disturbances broke out in Budapest ahead of the Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal, involving supporters from both clubs. Eyewitnesses report that groups of French and English fans engaged in a massive street brawl in the heart of the city.
Approximately 60 individuals took part in the confrontation. In addition to fists, fans wielded flares, smoke bombs, and various improvised objects. Videos circulating on social media show chaotic scenes as rival supporters hurl objects at each other, turning one of the city’s central districts into a battleground.
The scuffle lasted several minutes but dispersed before law enforcement could intervene. So far, there have been no official reports of injuries or arrests. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused during the unrest.
In response to the incident, security measures ahead of the final have been ramped up. Reports indicate that around 4,000 police officers will be deployed throughout Budapest on Saturday evening, marking the city’s largest ever police operation for a sporting event.
