Revolt at Old Trafford! Lisandro Martinez is not alone in his anger over Manchester United
Martinez's explosive comments appear to have exposed much deeper frustration inside the Manchester United dressing room.
Details: According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Lisandro Martinez is not the only Manchester United player unhappy with the club's work during the summer transfer window. Several other members of the dressing room reportedly share the Argentine defender's frustration, suggesting his public criticism was not simply an emotional reaction immediately after the final whistle.
The controversy erupted after Manchester United's 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid. Martinez openly questioned the club's summer recruitment and said he had expected more support from the hierarchy and technical department after the team's strong previous campaign. He also defended head coach Michael Carrick, arguing that responsibility for United's problems should not automatically be placed only on the manager and players.
Jacobs reports that the defender's stance was deliberate rather than a heat-of-the-moment outburst. Manchester United have yet to make a final decision over whether Martinez will be fined for speaking publicly about the club's transfer strategy. Sky Sports has separately reported that the club's hierarchy has not yet decided whether to discipline the centre-back for his remarks.
It is worth noting that Martinez has represented Manchester United since joining from Ajax in the summer of 2022. During his spell at Old Trafford, the Argentine centre-back has won both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.
