It is reported that Tonali’s injury turned out to be less serious than initially feared, and the player is already back in training with the squad. During today’s session, the Magpies’ head coach will assess Tonali’s fitness and make a decision on whether he will take to the pitch on Sunday.
Sandro Tonali was substituted in the 55th minute of the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Barcelona, as Newcastle suffered a heavy 7-2 defeat and bowed out of Europe’s most prestigious club tournament.
This season, Tonali has made 47 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 3 goals and providing 7 assists.
