Real Sociedad have given Subimendi an unusual term if he wants to move to Liverpool
Real Sociedad's central midfielder Martín Zubimendi remains Liverpool's primary transfer target this summer. However, securing this transfer has proven to be more challenging than anticipated.
According to The Times, the San Sebastián club has imposed an unusual condition on their player. If he wishes to join Liverpool, he must personally go to the La Liga office and activate the release clause in his contract.
It is noted that Liverpool is prepared to pay the £51 million buyout clause for Zubimendi. The club is also willing to assist the player in fulfilling Real Sociedad's condition.
This summer, Zubimendi became a European champion with the Spanish national team at Euro 2024, where he featured in four matches, including 45 minutes in the final against England.
Previously, there were reports of interest in Zubimendi from Barcelona and Arsenal.
The 25-year-old Zubimendi has spent his entire career at his hometown club, Real Sociedad. He has made a total of 188 appearances, scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists.
