First transfer for Slot? Liverpool to begin transfer talks for European champion
Liverpool has yet to sign a new player this summer, but it seems the club is on the verge of completing a top transfer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool is showing interest in Real Sociedad's central midfielder Martín Zubimendi.
Zubimendi's contract with Real Sociedad includes a buyout clause of €60 million. The Merseyside club will soon begin negotiations with both the club and the player.
This summer, Zubimendi became a European champion with the Spanish national team at Euro 2024, appearing in four matches, including 45 minutes in the final against England.
Previously, Barcelona and Arsenal were also reported to be interested in Zubimendi.
The 25-year-old Zubimendi has spent his entire career at his hometown club, Real Sociedad. In total, he has played 188 matches, scored 8 goals, and provided 7 assists.
