The 73-year-old specialist has turned down the offer to take charge of the Italian national team.
Details: According to ANSA, Claudio Ranieri has decided not to leave the 'Giallorossi' for the national team.
"I thank President Gravina for giving me this opportunity. It is a great honor, but after careful consideration, I've decided to fully remain at the disposal of Roma in my new role as consultant. The Friedkin family has given me their full support and trust in whatever decision I made regarding the national team, but the final word was mine," Claudio Ranieri stated.
It is reported that a dual role for Ranieri—combining club and national team duties—was considered, but the coach himself declined this option.
Ranieri is now awaiting a contract extension with Roma.
Reminder: Ranieri has chosen his own successor. It is believed that the Roma coach was bluffing.
