Today, Roma lost to Athletic Bilbao with a score of 1-3 in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 and exited the tournament. After the game, an interesting incident occurred between the head coaches, Claudio Ranieri and Ernesto Valverde.
Details: The Italian coach approached his Spanish counterpart and handed him his business card. Here's how Ranieri explained it.
“I gave Valverde my card. I lost his number, so I asked him to call me. We need to talk. He knows everything about the Spanish players who might interest me.”
After this season, Ranieri will end his coaching career and transition to the role of Roma's technical director. It's likely that Ranieri hinted he will focus more on transfer matters starting this summer.
Reminder: The day before yesterday, Roma announced the extension of the contract with central midfielder Leandro Paredes.
