By negotiating with a number of Al Ahly players whose contracts expire at the end of the current campaign, Pyramids FC is aggressively seeking reinforcements. The club has, however, run with opposition from its targets.

Goalkeeper Hamza Alaa, who starred for Egypt’s Olympic team at Paris 2024, was one of the players contacted. Alaa rejected the offer, saying that if Al Ahly did not renew his contract, he would prefer to look for a professional career elsewhere.

Pyramids also had their eye on midfielder Amr El-Sulaya, but he declined the offer, reiterating his intention to retire from Al Ahly.

Pyramids made Akram Tawfik an attractive offer to join on a free transfer in recent days, worth $1 million a year. However, Tawfik has decided to put Al Ahly's current Intercontinental Cup campaign first, delaying any talks concerning his future.

Al Ahly is getting ready to play the winner of Pachuca and Botafogo in their semifinal matchup on Saturday. On December 18, the winner will play Real Madrid in the championship match.
