The captain and goalkeeper of Bayern Munich, Manuel Neuer, has been forced to pause his training and matches.
Details: According to the German giant’s press service, a medical examination revealed that the 40-year-old shot-stopper has muscular issues in his left calf. The exact timeline for his return remains unknown, but the coaching staff will have to rest their leader in upcoming fixtures.
Health problems surfaced during Saturday’s Bundesliga home game against Köln. In the 60th minute, Neuer felt discomfort and, due to the injury, requested a forced substitution, handing over the gloves to Jonas Urbig. Subsequent tests in the club’s medical department confirmed the need for a temporary reduction in workload.
Losing Neuer ahead of the cup final is a major challenge for Bayern. Most likely, Sven Ulreich will start in goal against Stuttgart.
Reminder: Atalanta midfielder Charles De Ketelaere has attracted interest from Bayern.
