Barcelona currently has six goalkeepers on their roster, but after Marc-André ter Stegen's injury, they find themselves without a reliable option to defend their goal. To address the issue, they have asked Wojciech Szczęsny to come out of retirement. However, the club continues to seek a potential long-term goalkeeper and has shown interest in Bart Verbruggen from Brighton.

Details: Following the announcement of Ter Stegen's long-term injury, Barcelona was reluctant to rely on Iñaki Peña as their main goalkeeper and reached out to their former keeper, Szczęsny, to make a return to the field.

However, the club acknowledges that Szczęsny, at this stage, is only a temporary solution. With Ter Stegen now 32, his status as the first-choice keeper may diminish despite his contract running until 2028, and there is potential interest from clubs in the Middle East.

To prepare for this eventuality, Barcelona has been searching for alternatives, and according to Mundo Deportivo, Bart Verbruggen has emerged as a top candidate. The Dutch keeper has been performing impressively for Brighton, securing his place as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Netherlands. According to Transfermarkt, his market value stands at €22 million.

Reminder: Wojciech Szczęsny, while already signed with Barcelona, has yet to make his debut. His first appearance may come in La Liga against Sevilla or in the UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
