Last week, Barcelona was dealt a major blow with the loss of their primary goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, for the remainder of the season. However, the club has swiftly addressed the situation.
Details: Today, Barcelona officially announced the signing of experienced Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny on a contract until the end of the season.
This past summer, after leaving Juventus, Szczęsny had declared his retirement from professional football. However, the offer from Barcelona motivated the 34-year-old to reconsider his decision.
Reminder: Following Ter Stegen’s injury, La Masia graduate Iñaki Peña has started in Barcelona's last three matches.
Earlier, in a press conference, Barcelona's head coach Hansi Flick emphasized that no player in his squad is guaranteed a starting spot.
Over his career, Szczęsny has also played for Arsenal, Roma, and Brentford.
