Portugal brought an end to Nigeria’s impressive 12-match unbeaten streak after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Nigeria in an international friendly on Wednesday.
The encounter, played at Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, saw Portugal take the lead in the 23rd minute through Pedro Neto.
Nigeria responded positively and found an equaliser before the break, with Akor Adams getting on the scoresheet in the 37th minute to level the contest.
The two sides continued to battle for control in the second half, but it was Portugal who eventually found the decisive goal. Francisco Conceição struck in the 74th minute to restore the hosts' advantage and ultimately seal the win.
The result hands Portugal back-to-back victories heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Nigeria's long unbeaten run comes to an end despite another spirited performance from the Super Eagles.
