Manuel Kambala scored in the last minute for Polokwane City to beat Stellenbosch FC in a Betway Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Mozambican striker popped out at the death in what seemed like a game headed for a draw in Polokwane to win the game for Phuti Mohafe's side.

Gavin Hunt’s Stellenbosch FC were expected to build from their impressive match in midweek against Mamelodi Sundowns, where they salvaged a 1-1 draw.

Their scorer on Wednesday, Tshegofatso Mabasa, was introduced into the game in the 70th minute and he sent a rocket of a striker towards Polokwane’s City goalposts but he failed to hit the target.

This loss sees Polokwane jump to the sixth spot but also dents Stellies’ chances of finishing in the top eight.

This is going to be a difficult task for Stellies as the top eight finish becomes more and more elusive as the season end draws closer.

It will be a cause for concern for Gavin Hunt as he would hope to turn the season around for the Cape Winelands club having joined them seating in the relegation quagmire.
