Out for a long time. Ipswich midfielder suffers serious injury in match against Liverpool
In the 23rd round of the Premier League, teams from opposite ends of the table faced off. Liverpool hosted Ipswich at Anfield.
The match ended with a convincing 4-1 victory for the hosts. However, the "Tractor Boys" not only suffered a heavy defeat but also lost their key player, Wes Burns, for an extended period. In the middle of the first half, the Welshman, in a challenge with Cody Gakpo, sustained an injury and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.
The injury is quite serious. An internal knee displacement raises concerns about potential damage to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). There is also a dislocation of the tibia.
There is a slight hope that it may be only a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury, meniscus damage, or a bone contusion. However, this seems unlikely. The potential recovery time is over 9 months.
