Some of the most illustrious chapters in Arsenal’s history are entwined with Arsène Wenger’s legendary Invincibles, the squad that etched their names in football lore during the 2003/2004 season with an unbeaten run. Among the architects of that success was Dennis Bergkamp, whose adventure at Highbury began exactly 30 years ago today.

Details: It was on 20 June 1995 that the then 26-year-old striker made his move from Inter Milan to Arsenal for what was considered a modest fee for a transfer between top clubs—just £7.5 million.

Interestingly, Bergkamp joined the Gunners before the aforementioned Wenger had even taken the helm; the team was then managed by Bruce Rioch. Bergkamp worked under the English manager for just over a year before Wenger took charge in September 1996—a move that would define an era.

The Dutchman wasted no time cementing his place in the starting lineup, where he remained a mainstay for a decade. It was at Arsenal, in 2006, that the legendary forward hung up his boots.

For the record: Dennis Bergkamp played 423 matches for Arsenal and scored 120 goals. He won three Premier League titles (1997/98, 2001/02, 2003/04) and four FA Cups (1997/98, 2001/02, 2002/03, 2004/05) with the club.
