Olwethu Makhanya staying away at Philadelphia Union due to the club's reluctance to sell him
Ryan Richter has cited personal reasons for the ongoing absence of Olwethu Makhanya at Philadelphia Union.
The South African centre-back is looking to leave the MLS for Europe but his club as not accepting bids below their valuations.
So far Scottish giants, Rangers has been named as one club with keen interest in the player while unnamed teams from Belgium have also been mentioned to be interested in Makhanya.
Because nothing has come of those reports, Makhanya has been absent from the club.
"I have worked with Olwethu since he first joined the club, and we have a good personal relationship," Richter, Philadelphia Union coach, said, per GOAL.
"But right now, he is away from the club for personal reasons, and we will leave it at that for now."
