Ounahi previously arrived at Panathinaikos on loan from Marseille in 2024 and quickly became an important part of the Greek side. After that spell ended, the Moroccan continued his career in Spain with Girona, but his name remained strongly linked with a return to Athens.
The transfer saga intensified in the final days of the window. Panathinaikos and Girona had been negotiating over the midfielder, and the Greek club have now confirmed that Ounahi is returning. The announcement supplied with the transfer does not disclose the financial terms of the operation.
It is worth noting that during his first spell with Panathinaikos in 2024/25, Ounahi made 37 appearances in all competitions and scored five goals, according to the Greek club's official statistics. Last season, he also registered five goals and two assists in 24 league appearances for Girona.
Reminder: Girona FC and Panathinaikos reach an agreement for Azzedine Ounahi
