OFFICIAL. João Cancelo has joined Al-Hilal
Full-back João Cancelo has left Manchester City and will continue his career in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal officially announced the signing of the Portuguese international. Manchester City earned €25 million from Cancelo's transfer.
The 30-year-old defender signed a three-year contract with Al-Hilal, which will see him earn around €70 million.
Last season, Cancelo played on loan for Barcelona, where he was a key player. The Catalan club wanted to bring him back, but couldn't compete financially with the Saudi club.
Earlier in his career, Cancelo also played for Inter, Juventus, Valencia, Bayern Munich, and Benfica.
It is worth noting that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola did not plan to include João Cancelo in his squad, leading him to seek a move away from the club this summer. Although Cancelo was initially reluctant to move to Asia, Manchester City encouraged this decision, as he would not have had significant playing time this season.
