NPFL: Shooting Stars Boss Nurudeen Aweroro Labels 1–0 Loss to Nasarawa United “Disappointing”
Shooting Stars head coach Nurudeen Aweroro has described his team’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Nasarawa United as a disappointing result in their rescheduled 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 16 clash on Monday evening at the Lafia City Stadium.
The decisive moment of the encounter came in the first half when Moyi Hassan, introduced in the 34th minute to replace injured midfielder Chidera Nduka, struck the only goal of the match to secure victory for Nasarawa United. The loss brought an end to Shooting Stars’ three-match unbeaten run.
Speaking to the club’s media team after the game, Aweroro expressed his dissatisfaction but maintained a positive outlook:
“It’s a disappointing result for us today, but we are grateful to God for the outcome. Nasarawa United are not a bad side. It’s a team with great quality, and they won today because luck was on their side. However, we won’t relent until we achieve our goal for the season. As for our next game, we will regroup and take advantage of the opportunity ahead.”
Shooting Stars will now shift their focus to matchday 17, when they travel to the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday for a crucial fixture against Barau, aiming to return to winning ways.
