NPFL: Barau FC Confirms Nana Abraham Recovering After Stabbing Incident During NPFL Match Against Katsina United

Barau FC has issued an official statement regarding midfielder Nana Abraham, who was reportedly stabbed in the neck by a Katsina United supporter during their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking through the club’s media department, Abraham reassured fans about his condition:

"Thank God I am feeling better now. Our medical team did an excellent job treating my injuries, and I’m grateful for their care."

Reflecting on the incident, Abraham expressed shock over the attack, emphasizing that football should remain a sport, not a battlefield:

"It’s really unfortunate what happened. Football is not a war — you can either win, draw, or lose. We’ve played five home games, won one, drawn three, and lost one without incident. So why should we be attacked here?"
