Not Messi. Gerrard named the greatest footballer ever

Steven Gerrard called Al-Nasr forward Cristiano Ronaldo the greatest football player and admitted that it was the Portuguese's move to Saudi Arabia that contributed to him also going there.
It is reasonable to mention that an English specialist headed the local “Al-Ittifaq”.
Reflecting on his decision to become Al Ettifaq coach, Gerrard thanked Ronaldo for inspiring him to take on a new challenge in the Middle East.
“The arrival of the GOAT, as we call him, was obviously a huge deal. I think from that point on, the league - around the world - became a very popular topic of conversation for everyone. Since Cristiano’s arrival, even more famous players have joined the league,” Gerrard said in an interview with the Saudi Pro League, writes GOAL.
The ex-Reds midfielder said it was clear the Portuguese star still had a lot to offer the sport.
It should be noted that Al-Ettifaq is currently in seventh place in the Saudi Arabian championship standings.
In the world of sports, the word GOAT is used to describe “the best football player of all time.” More often than others this word is used to describe Argentinean Lionel Messi.
