Not because of the title! New detail emerges behind Arsenal's decision to cut 60 jobs
The timing of Arsenal's controversial restructuring does not tell the whole story.
Details: New details have emerged regarding Arsenal's plans to cut up to 60 jobs. The review that eventually led to the proposed redundancies was launched before the London club won the Premier League last season. External consultancy Boston Consulting Group was brought in to conduct a wide-ranging assessment of the club's workforce and identify areas where positions could potentially be removed or operations streamlined.

This means the process was already underway before Arsenal ended their long wait for the English league title. The review covered the wider organisation rather than being introduced as a reaction to events following the championship-winning campaign.
However, key football departments are protected from the proposed cuts. The men's and women's first-team coaching and performance staff will not be affected, while the academy, community operations and Arsenal Foundation are also reported to be outside the scope of the redundancies. The club is also expected to explore redeployment in an attempt to reduce the final number of people leaving.
It is worth noting that Arsenal reported record revenue of around £691 million for the 2024/25 financial year but still recorded a £1.4 million loss. Operating expenses increased from approximately £148 million to £201 million during the same period, providing additional context for the club's ongoing review of costs and staffing.
Reminder: Attention on the Santiago Bernabéu star. Arsenal are monitoring the situation around Real Madrid winger
