Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Xabi Alonso, has made a decision regarding his future for the next season. According to Fabrizio Romano, despite interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool, the Spanish coach will remain at Bayer.

In the summer of 2025, Alonso's contract with the "pharmacists" includes a buyout option, and he wants to see it through at least until that point.

At the same time, David Ornstein from The Athletic reports that Alonso's decision is linked to his anticipation of the vacancy for the head coach position at Real Madrid. He was mentioned as a contender to replace Carlo Ancelotti, but ultimately the Italian extended his contract until the summer of 2026.

Yesterday, former Bayern president Uli Hoeneß stated that it would be practically impossible for Munich to negotiate with Alonso at this time.

Also yesterday, it became known that if Xabi Alonso declines, the top candidate to replace Thomas Tuchel would be the current head coach of the Austrian national team, Ralph Rangnick.

In the current season, Bayer has not lost a single match in all competitions, and their lead over Bayern in the Bundesliga is 10 points.
