The legendary former president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeneß, has expressed doubts that the club will be able to lure Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Xabi Alonso, this summer.

"I believe that signing Xabi Alonso will be very difficult, if not impossible. I can imagine that he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen to continue his work," Hoeneß remarked.

Xabi Alonso's contract with Bayer is set to run until the summer of 2026. Besides Bayern, Liverpool is also interested in him. Previously, the Spaniard played for both of these clubs as a footballer.

In the current season, Bayer has not lost a single match in all competitions, and their lead over Bayern in the Bundesliga is 10 points.

It is worth noting that Bayern has already officially announced that their current head coach, Thomas Tuchel, will leave the club after the end of the current season.

Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi is considered another candidate to replace Tuchel.
