Manchester City defeated Ipswich Town 3-2 in the seventh round of the English Premier League. Goals from Erling Haaland and Phil Foden secured another three points for the team and helped Enzo Maresca write his name into the history of the competition.

Thanks to this result, Maresca became the first manager in Premier League history to win all of his first seven matches in charge of a single club. The coach continued his impressive start and surpassed the previous record held by managers who had managed a run of six consecutive victories.

Pep Guardiola with Manchester City in 2016, Carlo Ancelotti with Chelsea in 2009 and Ole Gunnar Solskjær with Manchester United in the 2018/19 season had previously reached this milestone. However, none of them managed to begin their tenure at a club with seven wins in their first seven league matches.

The victory over Ipswich was another confirmation of Maresca's impressive start to the season. The manager can now look forward to extending his historic run, while his team will be aiming to strengthen its position in the race for the top spots in the Premier League. After seven rounds, the Citizens sit alone at the very top of the table.
