The second Champions League night delivered goals, comebacks and emphatic victories across Europe.

Details: Six more matches from the opening round of the 2026/27 Champions League league phase were played on Wednesday, September 9. Barcelona hosted Feyenoord and VfB Stuttgart faced Viking in the two early kick-offs, before Liverpool met Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain welcomed Slovan Bratislava, Sporting CP took on Galatasaray and Napoli hosted Arsenal later in the evening.

The biggest statement of the night came from Paris Saint-Germain, who thrashed Slovan Bratislava 6-1. Barcelona also produced a dominant display with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord. Stuttgart and Sporting CP both won 3-1, Liverpool edged Atletico Madrid 2-1, while Arsenal became the only away team to collect three points on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory in Naples.

Wednesday's programme was the second of three playing days in Matchday 1. After these six fixtures, 12 of the opening round's 18 matches have been completed, with the remaining six scheduled for Thursday, September 10. It is worth noting that Wednesday produced 25 goals across six games — more than four per match on average. There were no draws, with five home victories and Arsenal recording the only away win.
