Nigeria defeat Ghana to reach the Unity Cup 2025 final
Today in London, the second semifinal of the Unity Cup 2025 friendly tournament took place at Brentford’s stadium. Two African powerhouses—Nigeria and Ghana—battled for a spot in the final.
Details: The first half was completely dominated by the Super Eagles. Within just 19 minutes, Nigeria struck twice. The opener came from Cyriel Dessers, and soon after, Ghana midfielder Razak Simpson unfortunately put the ball into his own net.
Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante gave Ghana hope in the 70th minute, but the Black Stars couldn’t find an equalizer before the final whistle.
In the final, Nigeria will take on Jamaica, who edged Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 yesterday. The showdown is set for May 31. On the same day, Ghana will face Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff.
Reminder: Today, Al Ahly clinched their 45th Egyptian Premier League title.
