Newcastle's leader has attracted attention from a top Premier League club

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães is close to leaving the Magpies for the sake of wanting to play in the Champions League. The 26-year-old Brazilian is interested in Barcelona and Real Madrid, but he may not have to leave the Premier League to realise his goal.

According to FootballTransfers, the possibility of the midfielder's transfer is being considered by Manchester City, who want to strengthen the centre of the pitch in the summer. It is reported that Guimarães likes City coach Pep Guardiola, who is a big admirer of the player.

The Spaniard also likes Lucas Paqueta, but the West Ham player's increased injury history is unlikely to allow a move to Manchester City.

PSG were previously reported to be interested in Guimarães, but Newcastle will demand a £100m pay-off from each potential buyer of the Brazilian.
