Newcastle have come up with a plan to keep their star away from Liverpool

Newcastle are well aware that winger Anthony Gordon is attracting interest from Liverpool. Moreover, the Magpies have a plan to keep their leader at Anfield.

The ingredients of that plan have been revealed by The Athletic. It is reported that the club will initiate talks with the winger over extending his contract next week when Newcastle are rested after their pre-season training camp.

It was feared at St James' Park that Gordon had lost his head over speculation linking him with Liverpool, and Newcastle are hoping to discourage further interest by offering the forward a long-term contract on improved terms.

Likewise, it was previously reported that the Magpies valued the winger at £80-100 million, and the Scousers have a plan to drive down the price of the 23-year-old.
