Newcastle has officially named their new captain for the upcoming season

Newcastle began the new Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Southampton.

For this match, midfielder Bruno Guimarães captained Newcastle. As reported by Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope, Guimarães is officially Newcastle United's new captain for the season. This also confirms that he will not be leaving the team this summer.

"I've always said that I want to make my mark in the club's history. I can't wait to do everything I can for the club and the fans," Guimarães stated.

Additionally, in the summer of 2023, AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali joined Newcastle for €64 million. However, he was soon suspended from football for 10 months by football authorities, and his ban is nearing its end.

Furthermore, Newcastle forward Alexander Isak has been attracting interest from top clubs for some time, but Newcastle is not willing to let him go.
