Newcastle forward Alexander Isak has been attracting interest from top clubs for a long time now, which, however, the Magpies themselves don't really share.

According to Football Insider, St James' Park are "very confident" that the Swede will remain in the team at the end of the transfer window, despite the fact that top clubs are interested in him.

Newcastle has previously been contacted by Chelsea about buying the 24-year-old forward, while Tottenham and Arsenal, as well as other top clubs, are also interested in Isak's services.

Newcastle had fought off those offers by the day on 30 June, when they were under pressure to sell several top stars, and were determined not to sell the player, who is considered an integral part of Eddie Howe's plans.

Now, preliminary talks have begun over Isak's new contract as Newcastle plan to have him linked with the club in the long term.
