Need one more player. Arsenal manager reveals plans for end of transfer window
This summer, Arsenal has signed only two players: David Raya from Brentford and Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. However, another transfer could be imminent, possibly even within the next few hours, with Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad expected to arrive at the Emirates.
Although there have been no other significant transfer rumors, head coach Mikel Arteta has stated that he is open to signing one more player. After yesterday's match against Aston Villa, Arteta admitted that he is pleased with his current squad but hinted at a desire to strengthen one particular position.
“It’s true that we’ve had Gabriel Jesus injured, and we couldn’t utilize him. We’re slightly lacking [in the attacking area], and if we can do something, we will,” Arteta said.
“If everyone is fit, then yes [we have enough quality to win the Premier League]. But we need everyone to be in top condition. We don’t have 23 outfield players, and you usually need to be equipped in that way.
We need to trust some of the academy players and ensure they’re strong and getting plenty of minutes. So far, things are looking good. I’m happy.”
It's worth noting that Arsenal has secured two wins in their first two matches, both with a scoreline of 2-0. They currently sit third in the league table.
