Arteta got his revenge on Emery. Arsenal finally beat Aston Villa

Arsenal visited Aston Villa for their Premier League match in the 2nd round.

Mikel Arteta was highly motivated to get revenge on his counterpart, Unai Emery, as Arsenal had lost both matches to Villa last season without scoring a single goal.

The first half was cautious, with both teams playing restrained football and creating few chances. One notable moment was Bukayo Saka's dangerous shot in the 16th minute, but Emiliano Martínez made a superb save to keep the score level.

The second half started more dangerously for the hosts. Ollie Watkins and Onana had opportunities in one attack, but their consecutive shots were narrowly off target. Then, Duran threatened with a shot that flew just wide of the post.

Arsenal punished Villa for their missed chances. Leandro Trossard, who had just come off the bench, scored with a precise shot to put Arsenal ahead.

Ten minutes later, Thomas Partey sealed the victory with a powerful long-range strike, making it 2-0.

Arsenal has now secured the maximum points from their first two matches. Aston Villa, on the other hand, has three points from two games.
