Napoli has sold a midfielder to a Bundesliga club
RB Leipzig has officially announced the acquisition of Napoli's midfielder Eljif Elmas. The contract with the 24-year-old player from North Macedonia extends until the summer of 2028.
According to Italian media, the transfer of the midfielder cost Leipzig around 25 million euros.
Earlier reports suggested that Napoli might lose their key midfielder Piotr Zielinski next summer, as the Polish player is in talks with Inter Milan regarding a preliminary contract. In December, Napoli extended the contract with their top scorer Victor Osimhen.
Elmas has been with Napoli since the summer of 2019, joining from Fenerbahçe for approximately 16 million euros. In the blue jersey, the Macedonian has played 189 matches, scoring 19 goals and providing 11 assists.
In the current season, the midfielder has scored two goals in 16 matches across all competitions for Napoli.
