Napoli has officially announced the transfer of defender Pasquale Mazzocchi from Salernitana.

Details of the deal remain undisclosed. Renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Napoli would pay approximately 3 million euros for the player.

The 28-year-old defender is expected to serve as a replacement for Giovanni Di Lorenzo in a similar position.

Mazzocchi is a product of Benevento's youth system. Before joining Salernitana, he played for Parma, Perugia, Venezia, and Rimini. In the current season, the Italian has featured in 18 Serie A matches, contributing with one assist.

Earlier, we reported that Napoli is close to acquiring Udinese's midfielder and Serbian national Lazar Samardzic. In December, Napoli sold midfielder Elif Elmas to RB Leipzig, earning approximately 25 million euros from the transfer.

The reigning Italian champions currently occupy the eighth position in the Serie A standings after 18 matchdays. On January 7th, Luciano Spalletti's team will face Torino away.
