Napoli is close to acquiring Udinese's midfielder and Serbian national Lazar Samardzic.

The clubs are in the final stages of negotiations, having resolved all existing disagreements. According to reports from TuttoMercato, the Naples-based club will pay €20 million for the midfielder. Udinese could potentially receive an additional €2 million in various bonuses. Currently, negotiations are ongoing between Napoli and the player regarding the terms of his personal contract.

Samardzic joined Udinese from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021. In the current Serie A season, the midfielder has featured in 17 matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

However, Napoli's pursuit of another transfer target seems to have failed. Napoli sought to loan midfielder Sasa Lukic from Fulham but was declined by the English club.

The reigning Italian champions currently occupy the eighth position in the Serie A standings after 18 matchdays. On January 7th, Luciano Spalletti's team will face Torino away.

In December, Napoli announced the sale of midfielder Elif Elmas to RB Leipzig. Unofficial reports suggest that the Naples-based club earned approximately €25 million from the sale of the North Macedonian national team player.
