Nafi Thiam has become a three-time Olympic champion in the heptathlon
At the 2024 Olympic Games on Friday, August 9, the medals in the women's heptathlon were awarded.
Belgian athlete Nafi Thiam secured the gold medal with a total of 6,880 points, finishing 36 points ahead of Great Britain's Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who took silver. The bronze medal was claimed by another Belgian, Noor Vidts.
Nafi Thiam has now become a three-time Olympic champion, having previously won gold at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics. She is also a multiple-time champion and medalist at world and continental championships.
As a reminder, the men's 4x100 relay final also took place at the Olympics, where the USA suffered a surprising defeat. Incidentally, this relay saw a second shock: just a day earlier, the Jamaican team failed to advance to the final.
