The men's 4×100 relay final took place at the Olympics on Friday, August 9.
The USA was considered the main favorite, but they created a sensation in a negative sense. The decisive error occurred during the handover from the first to the second leg. Coleman failed to pass the baton to Kenneth Bednarek, resulting in a collision between them. Consequently, the USA was disqualified.
Canada emerged victorious, securing the gold medal with a time of 37.50 seconds. South Africa finished in second place, while Great Britain rounded out the top three.
Incidentally, this relay saw a second shock: just a day earlier, the Jamaican team failed to advance to the final.
