On the 19th of December, a quarter-final match of the English League Cup took place between Chelsea and Newcastle. The regular time ended with a score of 1-1. In the penalty shootout, the Londoners were more accurate, winning 4-2.
The only goal for Chelsea was scored by the Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk in the 90+2nd minute. The Ukrainian capitalized on a mistake by Newcastle's defender Kieran Trippier.
After the match, Mudryk addressed Kieran on Instagram:
"Kieran, I just wanna say to you: stay strong. Sometimes s**t happens, but I think you are a strong footballer, no matter what happens," wrote Mykhaylo on Instagram.
Mudryk scored his third goal of the season, adding to his two assists in 17 matches.
